Africa Barrero Alexander

Visual Artist

Africa Barrero-Alexander is a visual artist based between London and Bristol. A graduate of the University of the West of England, where they completed a BA in Photography in 2024, their practice explores photography as a therapeutic tool capable of reshaping narratives and decontextualizing lived experience. Through self-portraiture and conceptual image-making, Barrero-Alexander examines identity, transformation, and embodiment, particularly through the lens of their experience as a transgender man. Their on-going work investigates themes of self-definition, memory, gender, and belonging, creating space for reflection within contemporary social and political landscapes.
